Walter Scott Brannen
I am a Statesboro native and second generation lawyer, with deep connection to the Statesboro area and, surrounding communities. I was a prosecutor for almost eleven years before joining practice with my father, Sam L. Brannen, until he passed away. After a short time practicing I partnered another local attorney to form Roach & Brannen, LLP. In 2016, Roach & Brannen, LLP changed to The Brannen Law Office, P.C.. I have the highest standard of integrity to live up to and I take the example set before me very seriously. You will find I am diligent, aggressive, honest, extremely hard working, and abiding to my clients. Having exclusively handled criminal law for over a decade, I know the courts, the law, procedures, and judges very well. I have tried over 80 felony jury trials in Superior Court, hundreds of cases in State Court, and practice in Federal Court also, in cases ranging from the smallest offenses to rapes, child molestation, vehicular homicide, double-homicide murder, death penalty, and complex civil matters. To say my talents in the courtroom, in front of a jury are exceptional would be an understatement. My trial excellence and courtroom strength is put to work in all types of cases, especially criminal, divorce, child custody, and property disputes among divorcing couples. I handle any type of family law case, but two of my favorites that I’ve developed great skill in are adoptions and legitimation actions. I guide families through the adoption process whether with DFCS involvement or privately done adoptions, and I lead parents through the child legitimation process and help establish legal rights, custody, and visitation rights. Outside the courtroom, I like to mediate cases to minimize conflict for those clients wishing to go that route. I also enjoy working with clients to plan for the future by creating wills and powers of attorney for health care and general purposes. When a client’s loved one passes away, I am skilled at helping them navigate the Probate Court system of filing the will and petitions to probate and administer the estate, and guide them through the probate procedures. Often I am called on to create a corporation or other business entity, transfer real estate, or close commercial real estate transactions; highly technical processes that I know well. In addition, I am honored to have the privilege to represent two cities near Statesboro and help with the municipal and local law matters that may arise, which include drafting ordinances, giving general advice on contracts and other matters, handling expansion or improvement projects from the funding on up to easements, land acquisitions, bond compliance, audits, and closings.
Let me put my skill, experience and exceptional integrity ideals to work for you, your family, city, county, or corporation. I promise every client will be treated like I would treat my own family member, with the highest professionalism and ethics and bare-bones hard work that is the example set before me and which I strive daily to live up to.
